Barisal Bulls, though standing in the bottom of the point table has depicted a wonderful win against Rajshahi Kings in the 36th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). They have restricted Rajshahi Kings before 17 runs of the victory target. The match ended a short while ago at the Sher – E – Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Rajshahi Kings’ English recruit Samit Patel tried his best to lead the team into the port of victory. He sticks into the crease up to the 19th over of the innings, scored a well played half century. Patel eventually lost his wicket by 62 runs and with that the hope of Rajshahi Kings’ to go through winning the match was diminished.
During the chase of Rajshahi Kings, Barisal Bulls bowlers managed to slow down the run rate of the Kings from the beginning of the innings. Rajshahi Kings batsmen were quite sluggish in their approach and could not pick up runs as per necessity. Meanwhile losing wickets at regular intervals restricted their run flow.
Mominul Haque and Nurul Hasan stood for a 27 run opening partnership. Mominul, with a single four and a single six scored a run a ball 16 run. On the other hand, his partner Nurul Hasan scored 12 playing half a number of deliveries before being trapped in front by Monir Hossain.
Hard hitter Sabbir Rahman failed once again; played 2 fours to score just 8 runs off 6 balls. Middle order batsman Raqibul Hasan added 9 runs (18 balls) with the team score and when he departed, Rajshahi Kings lost 4 wickets in 68 runs.
In the later phase, Samit Patel and James Franklin performed 44 run 5th wicket partnership to help Rajshahi Kings passed their hundred run mark.
Previously a thunderous half century by DJ Malan guided Barisal Bulls to construct a competitive total of 161 runs in the fixed 20 overs of the game. Malan struck 3 shots of sixes in his 33 ball innings, unfortunately, got run out scoring 56 runs. The innings was also decorated with 6 fours.
Fazle Mahmud also batted well through his run a ball 43 runs. He also hit 2 sixes along with 4 strokes to reach the boundary mark. In the beginning of things, Barisal Bulls opening stand was not well managed. Ajantha Mendis became the victim of Mehedi Hasan Miraz in the second over of the innings.
Afterward DJ Malan and Fazle Mahmud structured an exact 100 run partnership in the second wicket. When Nazmul Islam threw directly to trap Malan short of the crease, there were already 14th over running of the innings and 107 run on the board.
Bulls’ skipper Mushfiqur Rahim got out cheaply scoring 8 runs off 8 deliveries but Thisara Perera stood in the crease with Shahriar Nafees till the end of the innings. Perera scored 29 off 22 balls with 4 fours while Shahriar Nafees scored 16 off 6 balls. He hit 2 sixes with no fours to show.
