Tamim Iqbal has become the seventh batsman to score more than 1000 runs in Twenty20 cricket this year. He is the first Bangladeshi to do so in any calendar year.
Tamim is having a wonderful Bangladesh Premier League 2016 for Chittagong Vikings. He is the leading run-scorer in this season with 425 runs in eleven matches. He has hit five half-centuries with best score of 75 against Barisal Bulls.
In the Match 38 against Dhaka Dynamites on Friday, Tamim brought up his fifth fifty of this season. He hammered 59-ball 74 hitting 6 fours and 3 maximums. His knock helped the Vikings post 134/6 in 20 overs.

So far in year 2016, Tamim has scored 1060 runs in 28 matches at average of 48.18 and strike rate of 122.26. With nine half-centuries, he has scored one century (103 not out) against Oman in ICC World T20 in India.
